Liiga, the organisation responsible for Finland’s two top professional ice hockey leagues from season 2027/2028, has secured a long-term agreement that provides stability as Finnish elite hockey enters an exciting new era.
Commercial Sports Media (CSM) has proudly served as Liiga’s exclusive media rights advisor since the 2017/18 season, working closely with the league throughout a period of significant commercial and media development.
The new agreement ensures that Finland’s two premier ice hockey leagues will continue to be available exclusively on MTV’s platforms through spring 2032. It also provides a strong foundation as Liiga introduces its new competition format from the 2027/28 season.
“We are very pleased with the outcome of this process. Despite the complexities created by the transition to the new league structure, we have together secured a long-term agreement that provides stability and an excellent platform for the continued growth of Liiga,” said Anders Wistrand, Co-Founder of Commercial Sports Media.
“The renewal of our media rights partnership for the next five seasons marks an important milestone for the league. Throughout the process, Commercial Sports Media demonstrated exceptional professionalism, market knowledge, and strategic advisory capabilities. Having worked together for more than ten years, they have become a trusted partner to our organization. Their expertise and dedication were key factors in achieving a successful outcome, and we sincerely appreciate their contribution to this process”, said Mikko Pulkkinen, CEO of Liiga.
Commercial Sports Media looks forward to continuing its long-standing partnership with Liiga and supporting the ongoing development of one of Europe’s leading professional ice hockey leagues.
